Karla Esmeralda Perez

I'm a PhD student in the Social Learning Lab, advised by Professor Hyowon Gweon. I completed my B.A. in Philosophy and Data Science at Lake Forest College, IL. Before coming to Stanford, I spent two years as a post-bacc researcher in the Early Childhood Cognition Lab (PI: Laura Schulz) at MIT.

My research explores self-communication in early childhood, with a focus on how children use their emerging linguistic and social reasoning capacities to select what to share about themselves.

Outside of research I spend weekends existing outside of the material realm.
